What do you include in garage services at ECF Car Care?

The specific car service provided can vary depending on the age and vehicle model but our garage services usually include essential tasks such as engine oil and oil filter replacement. Other services might involve replacing spark plugs in petrol cars, antifreeze engine coolant, brake fluid and brake discs, tyre pressures, checking windscreen wipers, replacing air filter or power-steering fluid.

Throughout the car service process, we will examine your vehicle for any additional issues. If we find any necessary repairs, we will always inform you first. These assessments focus on safety-critical components like tyres and brake pads. Rest assured, we never perform unnecessary work, and we retain all replaced parts for your inspection.

Our highly trained Eastbourne technicians provide you with local garage prices but with manufacturer-level knowledge. We pride ourselves on our exceptional customer service, and transparency with our reviews on Google & Facebook speaking for themselves, as well as our loyal customers who come back to us year after year.

Whether you’re a new Eastbourne customer or a returning one, you can call us today or book your car service online here. Our staff would be happy to discuss prices, opening hours, and the available services we offer at the garage or are ready to book your visit into the diary.

How Often Should My Car Be Serviced?

A full car service should ideally be carried out on an annual basis (typically 12 months or 12,000 miles) no matter the mileage covered in that year, to help you to save money in the long term as well as to give you peace of mind when in your vehicle.

Even if the car has only covered a few thousand miles the oil filter should be replaced as the filter element will break down over time as well as the mileage, regardless of whether the car service light is on in your car. We can help you identify a vehicle service schedule when we enter your vehicle registration into AutoData and download the vehicle service plan to help you look after the vehicle and make the informed decision about having a regular car service.

If your vehicle is new to you and you aren't sure of its car service history, check the car's log book. There will typically be stamps inside the log book of the garage the car service was at and the date of the car service too.

BELOW ARE SOME OF THE MOST COMMON QUESTIONS THE ECF EASTBOURNE TEAM GET ASKED.

If you have another question that’s not covered, give us a call or send a WhatsApp message.

MY VEHICLE IS UNDER MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY, CAN I STILL HAVE IT SERVICED AT ECF?

In order to keep your car’s warranty valid, your vehicle will need to be serviced using manufacturer-approved parts but crucially you can have your vehicle serviced anywhere.

CAN WE USE A COURTESY CAR?

Yes! Using one of our courtesy cars are free, to use one, they do need to be fully comprehensively insured.

Check with your insurance company or take out a day insure policy with customer service.

WHAT QUALITY PARTS SHOULD WE USE?

ECF offer a variety of brands but will always recommend manufacturer or premium parts. ECF service advisors will work with you to determine the best parts to use on your vehicle.

Cheaper isn’t always better and quite often vehicle manufacturers will stamp their own badge & part number on parts made by Bosch, Delphi or Paget – In other words, let us do the research for you.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY CAR BE SERVICED?

A full car service should ideally be carried out annually no matter the mileage covered in that year, to help detect any strange noises or problems early in order to avoid any extra costs in the long term as well as to give you peace of mind when in your vehicle.

Even if the vehicle has only covered a few thousand miles the oil filter should be replaced as the filter element will break down over time as well as mileage. We can help you identify a vehicle service schedule when we enter your vehicle registration into AutoData and download the service schedule to help you look after the vehicle and save money.

Why replace something that doesn’t need to be replaced for another year?

IS A CAR SERVICE A LEGAL REQUIREMENT?

No, a car service is not a legal requirement but it does look at the wear and tear on your car. It also effectively prevents any dashboard warning lights that may arise as a result of not maintaining your vehicle servicing.

Our car servicing advisors will recommend the best ways to repair and keep your car performing its best.

The vehicle manufacturer will detail which checks should be included in the service; these details and service intervals can be downloaded from AutoData by ECF service advisors.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MOT AND A SERVICE?

A service is different to your MOT.

It’s common to have both done at the same time as this will save you time & money. An MOT is an annual test to check your vehicle’s safety and make sure it is in a roadworthy condition.

Getting an MOT done is legally required if your car is over 3 years old.

It is illegal to drive on a public road without a valid MOT certificate.
